Liana Mattera is a Wayne F. Shovelin Scholar at UNC Chapel Hill and a driven college student with a profound dedication to advancing STEM initiatives. Actively involved in promoting the inclusion of women in the field of STEM, Liana understands firsthand the critical role of a strong, supportive community in achieving success. In the role of COO, she aims to champion diversity and create resources for empowering women in STEM fields. Through her academic achievements and leadership, Liana is passionate about creating meaningful, transformative change in the STEM landscape. At the heart of her mission is the belief that young female leaders deserve a platform to thrive. She hopes to build the foundation for them to launch into social impact and connect with influential leaders who can help amplify their voices. In fostering a supportive environment, Liana wants to ensure that women are taken seriously and are well-equipped to overcome the potential challenges of pursuing STEM endeavors.
